Sting: An Audio Detective Game - Launched on Itch.io

Salt Lake City, Wednesday, December 9, 2020 – Sting: An Audio Detective Game is now available on Itch.io! While the game was technically finished and ready for distribution a few weeks ago, the previous method of delivery involved a clunky Google Drive sharing process. Wanting to avoid complications concerning privacy and negative user experiences, Sting’s developers moved the game to Itch.io, what they predict will be their primary distribution platform.

Sting is a single-player, audio-focused detective game designed to be accessible to blind and visually impaired players. In Sting, players take on the role of Detective Keith Martin, the first blind detective assigned to the Denver Police Department’s Covert Encounter Task Force (CETF). As Martin, players are responsible for managing a network of audio bugs placed throughout a criminal syndicate’s base of operations. During a police “sting” operation, it is up to players to discover the identity of the syndicate’s leader, the illusive Cerberus, before the syndicate catches on.

After sharing the current build of the game internally, members of Sting’s voice acting team are itching to share it with their friends. Josef von Spakovsky, the voice actor responsible for playing Sting’s eccentric character “Hatchet,” had the following to say about the game:

“The demo version alone was fantastic, and I had some friends play and they said it was top notch.  Watching [Sting’s] progress has been enlightening.”
